 Stop Puppy Chewing

Congratulations! You just added a new addition to your family, a brand new puppy. Weather you have owned a dog before or not, you can help but laugh and play right along with him. They have the softest fur, the cutest little faces and the puppy breath...forget-about-it!

Now that your little bundle of joy has been in the house for a while you've started to notice little signs of a puppy chewing problem like, the ends of shoe laces being chewed off, little bit marks on your favorite shoes or marks on the baseboards in the kitchen. My little guys big mistake was chewing on the wooden chair legs to our brand new kitchen table... my wife almost lost her mind she was so upset, and rightfully so.

You see, I had owned puppies before and my wife hadn't. Well, I totally forgot how much puppies loved to chew and it was my responsibility to train the little guy. (Conditions agreed upon before he aloud in the house. Although, my wife fell for the little guy just as hard as I did.) So, it's really my fault the kitchen chairs got chewed up. Now I had to find a way to correct this puppy chewing problem and fast, because there's not enough room in the dog house for both of us.

Here was my plan. I'll go out the local big box store and buy some puppy toys. That way my little buddy will chew on the toys instead of household idems. When I wasn't able to watch him closely I would make sure to put him in his kennel.

I thought I had it all worked out. I bought several different toys for him to chew on and while I was there I picked up a nice fluffy dog bed to keep him cozy in his kennel.

I got home proud and excited to introduce these new toys to my little buddy. Boy are we going to have fun, so I thought. The first toy was a furry duck or something, he took one wiff of it and that was it. He turned away with little interest. So, I pulled out the squeaky one, that got his attention. We played for a few minutes and he seem content to chew and play with that toy so I went back to watching TV. and check on him from time to time.

Well, It took him all of about 15 minutes to find the squeaker and rip it out! Luckily, I caught him in mid chew, or else I believe he would have swallowed it. So, I pulled out my secret weapon. The supposedly unbreakable Kong toy. I put the little treat inside the toy per instructions and gave it to my puppy. That seemed to be working. It was getting late so after a quick potty break outside I put him in his kennel with his brand new fluffy bed for the night.

That's My Little Buddy!

The following morning I awoke to an awful mess. That's right, my little buddy had chewed though the bed and pulled all of the stuffing out. After some good playtime outside and cleaning up the mess I decided to do some research on the internet and solve this problem once and for all.

Look, I don't mind paying for something if it's a good quality product and I can get it for a fair price. Well, after almost two hours of reading articles and looking at reviews for this dog training program or that dog training guide, it accorded to me.

I may run into other dog behavioral problems with my little guy down the road as well. Being that he's a German Shepard and likely to grow into a pretty good size dog I had better find something that will help me right now, as well as something that will help me though out my dog's life.

Well, it came down to two different Dog training systems that I liked.
Secrets to Dog Training and The Good Dog Training System

They both centered around positive re-enforcement training which I totally agree with. They both have tons of resources to help you with your dog training. Although, I think Secrets to Dog Training Secrets has more video, but don't quote me on that.

In the end I picked Secrets to Dog Training. They've been around a long time. The man who wrote it and made the video's of real dog training examples. Daniel Stevens has been a professional dog trainer for many years. Plus, they have a members forum with a great staff that's there to help you if you run into a problem. It's just done really well with lots of real world situations and easy to follow instruction. I just couldn't be happier.

So, if you want to get the secrets on How to Stop My Puppy from Chewing plus a great deal more for about the same price as other dog training books or systems then I suggest getting Secrets to Dog Training.
